Canon Rebel 4i with EF-S 18-135mm lens © 2012 Canon / DSLRbuyer

Canon have announced today their latest entry level Digital SLR, the Canon EOS Rebel T4i (also know as the Canon 650D outside the states). It has 18mp, 5 frame per second and much improved video…

At one time video on Digital SLR was not possible yet for the cheaper compact cameras it was expected. The problem lay in the SLR design as there was a mirror in the way. When they overcame that there was the focusing problem as the DSLR camera accurately focussed using the mirror path. Today we almost expect our cameras to follow peoples faces and use this on the focusing point. Even a lot of phone cameras (such as the iPhone) have this feature! See our related article on Why buy a DSLR rather than a camera phone. With the latest Canon EOS Rebel T4i / 650D Canon have addressed this and even come up with some lens that focus almost silently. Also as we are so use to touch screens they have incorporated that to! The new EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens is the most desirable kit lens but of course you have to pay for that. The Canon EOS Rebel T4i and various kits are available end of June/ July 2012 (details in the press release). The Canon EOS Rebel T4i can be pre-ordered in the states from B&H here. See our Where to Buy for our other suggested places.
